A LOOK INSIDE: ‘Avo – A Fruitful Reflection’

‘Avo’ was born from a spontaneous moment of self-reflection—an exploration of symbolism through the humble avocado. It feels almost like a self-portrait, a quiet realization that we are not so different from this simple fruit, once the layers are peeled away. We are, after all, judged by our surface—a book by its cover. But beneath that first impression, beneath the skin, what remains?

‘Skin, flesh, soul.’ Layers that mirror our truest selves, always drawing us back to our roots—back to nature and its timeless symbolism.

The artwork invites this journey inward. A reflective graphite background serves as a subtle yet powerful device, a surface that reveals the viewer’s own reflection as they approach the painting. In this intimate moment, the line between the art and the observer dissolves; you are not merely a spectator but a part of the composition itself. The painting becomes a dialogue, linking you directly to its meaning.

It whispers the question: What do we see when the layers are stripped away? Are we just skin, flesh, and bone—or something deeper? This connection to the natural world urges us to look past the surface and into the soul, where true essence resides.

Through Avo, the viewer is reminded of their own humanity—of the delicate balance between fragility and strength, surface and depth, self and nature. It is both a reflection of the self and a reflection on the self. All you have to do is look closely.
